You need to work on your app, the onboarding stages with the videos is way too long. But I love the book that you added to the package. (professional stuff) I didn't manage to sync the Bluetooth yet. I hope it will workout fine. Can't wait to fly this thing.
These little kits are a blast. We ordered one kit for our 8yr old sons Christmas gift (Friday). By Monday I ordered one for my self. We have been spending quality time learning aerodynamics/ physics/ building skills and best of all real controlled flight of the infinite designs. So far the F-22 is his favorite. It’s easy to fly and does the coolest high alpha hover into a light head wind looking more like a harrier. My favorite is the balsa tornado. It flies so gracefully and aerobatic. Go for the pro kit! You won’t be disappointed!! Hope this helps. I don’t do reviews, expect a couple psycho Yelps about bad food.
Thanks for the great review and for sharing your experience! love the painted F-22!! Shai
Unfortunately too windy to use the airoplane well, but the time it flew I was very excited and really enjoyed it! Unfortunately I lost a part (it was pretty windy as well) and am waiting now for spare parts to arrive and for better weather ;-)
Just received from courier today, really impressed with product packaging and instructions. Have not built or flown one yet as will wait to Xmas with grandkids, I think they will be impressed.
Great. But turning control is limited. Get a really big field. I have only got it trapped in one 30 foot tree...had to climb and get a long pole. I also lost sight of it another time, and had to run to try and see where it was landing. Fortunately I recovered it both times.
Hi Glen. Thanks for your review and feedback. We highly recommend to fly in a BIG open field at least 100 yards in diameter without any trees or buildings which can get in the way. If you want to increase your turning ratio you can tune this in the tuning screen of each plane you fly see example here.
The POWERUP 4.0 is a propeller module, power source and flight computer that makes paper planes capable of independent flight. You can add it to any paper, light balsa wood or foam plane. To control the plane, download the POWERUP 4.0 app for iOS or Android.
Very. Tilt your phone left or right to control which way you turn or use the tuning setting in the app to get extra control over your flight.
Yes. As long as it weighs under 20 grams. While its predecessors (the 3.0 and the 2.0) worked best with very precisely folded planes, the 4.0 is powerful enough to fly all kinds of models. We even tested it on a plane made of lettuce leaves… and it worked.
We support any iOS or Android device that has Bluetooth 4.0 and a gyro.
The POWERUP 4.0 has a range of 240 feet. If you go beyond that, the app will lose communication with the bluetooth chip in the propeller and your plane will land.
Thanks to the onboard flight computer and stabilizers, you can use the 4.0 in less-than-perfect weather. If you’re flying a paper plane, it’s still best to avoid rainy days though. And for the smoothest flights, aim for clear, sunny, calm days. The template kit includes waterproof paper incase your are restricted to fly in wet, snowy or damp conditions.
It depends. The POWERUP 4.0 may be a super successful gift if you’re giving it to someone who loves making paper airplanes, loves creating things and loves flying. The 4.0 is also a great starter gift for anyone looking to get into RC flight.
It is really up to you as long as you keep the wing weight below 0.71oz /20grams. POWERUP quick connect accessory systemlets you connect the POWERUP 4.0 module to thin materials like paper and to thicker materials like cardboard, foam and balsa wood in many different ways.
Yes. You can use the 4.0 to give your students a strong foundation in aerodynamics. Crafting a plane from a sheet of paper, adjusting it for a perfect glide and controlling it, provides a challenging yet fulfilling educational experience. And thanks to the extra thrust in the 4.0, you can encourage students to design foam and balsa wood planes and put them to the test too. We recently released an option to download the data of the sensors as well for every flight, this data can be utilized in many creative ways by educators and students.
We designed the POWERUP module to survive most crashes. It’s made with durable carbon fiber rods and polypropylene plastic. The bumper is made with rubber. Still though… no machine is unbreakable. If you run your plane into a wall - repeatedly - your POWERUP may sustain some damage. That’s why we recommend trying to land on something soft - like the grass in your local park.
The POWERUP 4.0 is our most advanced version to date which recently replaced our legacy POWERUL 3.0 model. If you like inventing your own planes we recommend the4.0 Tinkerer collection where you get to explore endless planes using just paper. If you are looking for an entry level RC experience with step by step instructions please head over to our 4.0 Hobbyist collection. the 4.0 is perfect. And if you just want to fly a paper plane without using your phone, then the2.0 could be the one for you.
No. The FAA only requires registration for drones that weigh 0.5 lb/ 250 grams or more. The POWERUP 4.0 weighs less than 19 grams.
You can return an unused product within 30 days of purchase.
We provide a full 1 year warranty on all parts except for the propellers and batteries. Our battery warranty lasts for 6 months from order.
